“Behold, days are coming, says the L-rd, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Yisra᾽el, and with the house of Yehuda… but this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Yisra᾽el after those days, says the L-rd; I will put my Torah in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their G-d, and they shall be my people…”

-Jeremiah 31:31, 33

“Rabbi Elazar says: Be diligent in learning Torah, and know what to respond to one who denigrates the Torah. Know before Whom you labor–the Master of your work is trustworthy to pay you the wage for your activity.”

-Pirkei Avos 2:14

“While writing this commentary of the New Testament, I had no other goal, as I have said in the first volume, but to reconcile these two enemy sisters: The Church and the Synagogue… to show everyone that the New Testament only comes to show that the root of existence is in the unity of Gd (ahdut ha-Bore) … and also to strengthen the law of Moses (Torat Moshe)… I publish this commentary (to Matthew) in Hebrew for Jews, to introduce them to the New Testament who, until now, have not recognized its beauty (eynam makirim ’et yofya)… Notwithstanding the contrary misconception, the New Testament is in no manner contrary to the Tanakh (Hebrew Bible) or to the Talmud.

-Rabbi Eliyahu Tzvi Soloveitchik, Kol Kore

Waykeeper Principles #6 & #8

6. The Jewish writings called, “the New Testament,” are not equal, but are subordinate to the Torah given by G-d at Sinai (and therefore not intended as a Halachic authority).

8. We do not yet have a kosher translation of the “New Testament,” but its general teachings align especially with Hasidic Judaism (e.g. serving G-d with and beyond ‘the letter’).

Colossians 1:1 → Colossians 2:10 (39)

Chapter 1

1 Shaul, a shaliach of Messiah Yeshua through the will of G-d, and Timothy the brother, 2 to the set-apart and faithful brothers in Messiah at Colossae: Grace to you and peace from G-d our Father. 3 We give thanks to G-d the Father of our Master Yeshua the Messiah, always praying for you, 4 having heard of your faithfulness in Messiah Yeshua and the love which you have for all the set-apart ones, 5 because of the hope laid up for you in the heavens, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the Good News, 6 which has come to you—just as it has also in all the world and is bearing fruit and growing—just as it has been among you also since the day you heard it and came to know the grace of G-d in truth. 7 Even as you learned from Epaphras, our beloved fellow servant, who is a faithful servant of the Messiah on our behalf, 8 who also made clear to us your love in the Spirit. 9 For this reason we also, from the day we heard, do not cease praying for you and asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 to walk worthily of the L-rd, to be fully pleasing to Him, bearing fruit in every good work and growing in the knowledge of G-d, 11 being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might, for all endurance and longsuffering with joy, 12 giving thanks to the Father who qualified you to share in the inheritance of the holy ones in the light. 13 He delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the son of His love, 14 in whom we have redemption—the forgiveness of sins. 15 He is the image of the invisible G-d, the firstborn of all creation, 16 for in him were created all things—in the heavens and on the earth, visible and invisible—whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body—the assembly—who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that he himself will come to have first place in everything. 19 For in him it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell, 20 and through him to reconcile all things to Himself—having made peace through the blood of his cross—both the things on the earth and the things in the heavens. 21 And you—who were formerly alienated and enemies in your mind, engaged in evil works— 22 he has now reconciled in the body of his flesh through his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and beyond reproach before him, 23 if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and not shifting from the hope of the Good News which you heard—which was proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Shaul, was made a servant. 24 Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in the afflictions of the Messiah on behalf of his body—which is the assembly, 25 of which I was made a servant according to the stewardship from G-d which was given to me for you, to fulfill the word of G-d— 26 the mystery which has been hidden from the ages and from generations, but has now been manifested to His holy ones, 27 to whom G-d willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Nations—which is the Messiah in you, the hope of glory. 28 We proclaim him, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Messiah Yeshua. 29 For this I labor also, striving according to His working which works in me with power.

Chapter 2

1 For I want you to know how great a struggle I have for you and for those in Laodicea and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh, 2 that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and unto all the riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of G-d’s secret—the Messiah, 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. 4 I say this that no one may delude you with persuasive speech. 5 For even if I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing and seeing your orderly manner and the steadfastness of your faithfulness in the Messiah. 6 As therefore you received the Messiah Yeshua the Master, walk in him, 7 having been rooted and now being built up in him and established in your faithfulness, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. 8 Beware lest anyone take you captive through philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental principles of the world, and not according to the Messiah. 9 For in him dwells all the fullness of divinity bodily, 10 and you have been made complete in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.

“to know the love of Messiah which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of G-d.”

-Ephesians 3:19

Monday (2):

Colossians 2:11 → Colossians 3:11 (24)

11 In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh—in the circumcision of the Messiah, 12 having been buried with him in immersion, in which you were also raised with him through faithfulness in the working of G-d who raised him from the dead. 13 And you—being dead in trespasses and in the uncircumcision of your flesh—He made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14 having wiped out the handwriting of the decree that was against us—which was contrary to us—and he has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 Having disarmed the rulers and the authorities, he made a public display of them, triumphing over them through the cross. 16 Therefore let no one judge you in food or in drink, or in regard to a festival or a new moon or Shabbat— 17 which are a shadow of things to come, but the body is of the Messiah. 18 Let no one disqualify you by delighting in self-abasement and the worship of the angels, taking his stand on things which he has seen, puffed up without cause by his fleshly mind, 19 and not holding fast to the Head, from whom the whole body, being supplied and held together through the joints and ligaments, grows with a growth which is from G-d. 20 If you died with the Messiah to the elemental principles of the world, why—as if living in the world—do you submit to decrees: 21 “Do not handle, do not taste, do not touch”— 22 all of which things refer to things destined to perish with use—in accordance with the commandments and teachings of men? 23 These things, which have a reputation of wisdom in self-imposed religion and self-abasement and severe treatment of the body—not of any value against the indulgence of the flesh.

Chapter 3

1 If then you were raised with the Messiah, seek the things above, where the Messiah is, seated at the right hand of G-d. 2 Set your mind on the things above, not on the things upon the earth. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with the Messiah in G-d. 4 When the Messiah—our life—is revealed, then you also will be revealed with him in glory. 5 Put to death therefore your members which are on the earth: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness—which is idolatry. 6 For on account of these things the wrath of G-d is coming upon the sons of disobedience, 7 in which you also formerly walked when you were living in them. 8 But now, put them all aside: wrath, rage, malice, slander, and shameful speech from your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, since you have stripped off the old man with its practices, 10 and have put on the new man who is being renewed in knowledge according to the image of the One who created him— 11 where there is no Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free—but the Messiah is all and in all.
