Chapter 3

Chapter 4
1 I therefore, the prisoner in the Master, exhort you to walk worthily of the calling with which you were called, 2 with all humility and meekness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, 3 being diligent to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace: 4 one body and one Spirit, even as you were also called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Master, one faith, one immersion; 6 one G-d and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. 7 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of the Messiah’s gift. 8 Therefore He says: “When he ascended on high, he led captivity captive and gave gifts to men.” 9 (Now this “He ascended”—what is it but that he also descended into the lower parts of the earth? 10 He who descended is himself also he who ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.) 11 And he gave some as shluchim, and some as prophets, and some as proclaimers of the Good News, and some as shepherds and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the set-apart ones for the work of ministry, for the building up of the body of the Messiah, 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the son of G-d, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of the Messiah, 14 so that we may no longer be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the cunning of men, by craftiness in the scheme of deceit, 15 but holding to the truth in love, we are to grow up in all things into him who is the head—the Messiah— 16 from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by that which every joint supplies, according to the working in due measure of each individual part, makes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love. 17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Master, that you walk no longer as the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind, 18 being darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of G-d because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart, 19 who, having become callous, gave themselves over to licentiousness, for the practice of every kind of uncleanness with greediness. 20 But you did not learn the Messiah in this way— 21 if indeed you heard him and were taught in him, as truth is in Yeshua: 22 that you lay aside the old man, according to the former manner of life, who is being corrupted according to the desires of deceit, 23 and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and put on the new man, who according to G-d is created in righteousness and holiness of truth.

25 Therefore, laying aside falsehood, speak truth each one with his neighbor, because we are members of one another. 26 Be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, 27 and do not give the Adversary an opportunity. 28 Let him who steals steal no longer; but rather let him labor, working with his own hands what is good, that he may have something to share with him who has need. 29 Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need, that it may give grace to those who hear. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of G-d, in whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be removed from you, along with all malice. 32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as G-d also in the Messiah forgave you.
Chapter 5
1 Be therefore imitators of G-d, as beloved children, 2 and walk in love, just as the Messiah also loved us and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to G-d as a fragrant aroma. 3 But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is fitting among holy ones; 4 nor filthiness, nor foolish talk, nor coarse jesting—which are not fitting—but rather thanksgiving. 5 For this you know with certainty: that no sexually immoral person or impure person or covetous person—who is an idolater—has an inheritance in the Kingdom of the Messiah and of G-d. 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for on account of these things the wrath of G-d comes upon the sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore do not become co-partakers with them; 8 for you were formerly darkness, but now you are light in the L-rd; walk as children of light— 9 for the fruit of the light is in all goodness and righteousness and truth— 10 trying to learn what is well-pleasing to the L-rd. 11 And do not participate in the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even expose them, 12 for the things which are done by them in secret it is shameful even to speak of. 13 But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light. 14 Therefore it says: “Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and the Messiah will shine on you.”

Chapter 6
1 Children, obey your parents in the L-rd, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— 3 “that it may be well with you and that you may live long on the earth.” 4 And fathers, do not provoke your children to anger; but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the L-rd. 5 Servants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart, as to the Messiah— 6 not by way of eye-service, as men-pleasers, but as servants of the Messiah, doing the will of G-d from the soul, 7 with good will rendering service as to the L-rd and not to men, 8 knowing that whatever good thing each one does, this he will receive back from the L-rd, whether slave or free. 9 And masters, do the same things to them, and give up threatening, knowing that both their Lord and yours is in heaven, and there is no partiality with Him. 10 Finally, be strong in the L-rd and in the strength of His might. 11 Put on the full armor of G-d, that you may be able to stand firm against the schemes of the Adversary. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of darkness of this age, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore, take up the full armor of G-d, that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. 14 Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the Good News of peace; 16 in addition to all, taking up the shield of faithfulness with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of G-d, 18 with all prayer and petition praying at all times in the Spirit, and to this end keeping alert with all perseverance and petition for all the set-apart ones, 19 and on my behalf—that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the Good News, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
Ephesians 6:21 → Philippians 1:18 (22)
21 But that you also may know about my circumstances, how I am doing—Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful servant in the L-rd, will make everything known to you. 22 I have sent him to you for this very purpose, that you may know about us and that he may comfort your hearts. 23 Shalom to the brothers, and love with faithfulness, from G-d the Father and the Master Yeshua the Messiah. 24 Grace be with all those who love our Master Yeshua the Messiah with an undying love.
THE LETTER TO THE PHILIPPIANS
Chapter 1
1 Sha’ul and Timothy, servants of Messiah Yeshua, to all the set-apart ones in Messiah Yeshua who are in Philippi, with the overseers and servants: 2 Grace to you and shalom from G-d our Father and the Master Yeshua the Messiah. 3 I give thanks to my G-d upon every remembrance of you, 4 always in every petition of mine on behalf of you all, making the petition with joy, 5 for your fellowship in the Good News from the first day until now; 6 being confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Messiah Yeshua. 7 Even as it is right for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart, both in my bonds and in the defense and confirmation of the Good News, you all being fellow partakers of grace with me. 8 For G-d is my witness, how I long for you all with the deep affection of Messiah Yeshua. 9 And this I pray: that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, 10 so that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and blameless until the day of the Messiah, 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Yeshua the Messiah—to the glory and praise of G-d. 12 Now I want you to know, brothers, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out rather for the advancement of the Good News, 13 so that my bonds in the Messiah have become evident in the whole praetorium and to all the rest, 14 and most of the brothers, trusting in the L-rd because of my bonds, dare much more to speak the word of G-d without fear. 15 Some indeed proclaim the Messiah even from envy and strife, and some also from good will. 16 The latter do it from love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the Good News; 17 but the former proclaim the Messiah from selfish ambition—not sincerely, thinking to add affliction to my bonds. 18 What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, the Messiah is proclaimed; and in this I rejoice, yes, and I will rejoice.

19 For I know that this will result in my salvation through your petition and the supply of the spirit of Yeshua the Messiah, 20 according to my earnest expectation and hope, that I shall not be put to shame in anything, but that with all boldness, as always, even now the Messiah shall be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death. 21 For to me to live is the Messiah, and to die is gain. 22 But if to live in the flesh—this is fruitful labor for me; and what I shall choose I do not know. 23 But I am hard pressed between the two, having the desire to depart and to be with the Messiah, for that is very much better; 24 yet to remain in the flesh is more necessary for your sake. 25 And being confident of this, I know that I shall remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy of the faith, 26 so that your boasting in Messiah Yeshua may abound because of me, through my coming again to you. 27 Only conduct yourselves worthily of the Good News of the Messiah, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your circumstances—that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one soul striving together for the faithfulness of the Good News, 28 and not alarmed in anything by your opponents—which is a sign of destruction for them, but of salvation for you, and this from G-d. 29 For to you it has been granted on behalf of the Messiah—not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for his sake, 30 having the same conflict which you saw in me and now hear to be in me.
Chapter 2
1 If there is therefore any encouragement in the Messiah, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship of the spirit, if any compassion and mercies, 2 make my joy complete by being of the same mind, having the same love, united in soul, intent on one purpose. 3 Nothing according to selfish ambition or vainglory, but in humility counting each other as surpassing themselves; 4 each one not looking to his own things, but each one also to the things of others. 5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Messiah Yeshua, 6 who, being in the image of G-d, did not count equality with G-d a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, taking the image of a servant, being born in the likeness of men; 8 and being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself, becoming obedient unto death—even death on a cross. 9 Therefore also G-d highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Yeshua every knee should bow—of those in heaven and those on earth and those under the earth— 11 and every tongue should confess that Yeshua the Messiah is Master, to the glory of G-d the Father.

12 So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is G-d who works in you both the willing and the working, according to His good pleasure. 14 Do all things without grumblings and disputings, 15 that you may be blameless and innocent—children of G-d without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, 16 holding forth the word of life—so that I may have reason to boast in the day of the Messiah, that I did not run in vain nor labor in vain. 17 But even if I am being poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice and co-rejoice with you all. 18 And likewise you also rejoice and co-rejoice with me. 19 But I hope in the Master Yeshua to send Timothy to you shortly, so that I also may be encouraged by learning your circumstances. 20 For I have no one like-minded who will genuinely care for your state. 21 For all seek their own things, not the things of Messiah Yeshua. 22 But you know his proven character, that as a child with a father he served with me in the Good News. 23 Therefore I hope to send him at once, as soon as I see how things go with me. 24 And I trust in the L-rd that I myself shall also come shortly. 25 But I considered it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus—my brother and fellow worker and fellow soldier, and your emissary and minister to my need— 26 since he was longing after you all and was distressed because you had heard that he was sick. 27 For indeed he was sick to the point of death; but G-d had mercy on him—and not only on him but also on me, lest I should have grief upon grief. 28 I therefore sent him the more eagerly, that on seeing him again you may rejoice, and I may be less sorrowful. 29 Receive him therefore in the L-rd with all joy, and hold such men in honor, 30 because for the sake of the work of the Messiah he came near to death, having risked his soul to make up for what was lacking in your service to me.

Chapter 3
1 Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the L-rd. To write the same things to you is not troublesome to me, and is a safeguard for you. 2 Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of the false circumcision. 3 For we are the circumcision—who worship G-d in spirit and boast in Messiah Yeshua and put no confidence in the flesh— 4 though I myself might have confidence even in the flesh. If any other man thinks to have confidence in the flesh, I more: 5 circumcised the eighth day, of the nation of Yisra’el, of the tribe of Binyamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; according to Torah, a Pharisee; 6 according to zeal, persecuting the assembly; according to righteousness that is in Torah, found blameless. 7 But what things were gain to me, these I have counted as loss for the Messiah. 8 Moreover indeed I count all things to be loss for the surpassing greatness of the knowledge of Messiah Yeshua my Master, for whom I suffered the loss of all things, and count them as refuse, that I may gain the Messiah 9 and be found in him—not having a righteousness of my own derived from legalism, but that which is through the faithfulness of the Messiah, the righteousness from G-d based on faithfulness— 10 to know him and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his sufferings, being conformed to his death, 11 if by any means I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. 12 Not that I have already obtained or have already been made perfect, but I press on that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Messiah Yeshua. 13 Brothers, I reckon not myself to have laid hold; but one thing I do—forgetting what is behind and stretching forward to what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward calling of G-d in Messiah Yeshua. 15 Let us therefore, as many as are mature, be of this mind; and if in anything you are otherwise minded, G-d will reveal this also to you. 16 Only, as to what we have attained, let us keep walking by the same standard. 17 Join in imitating me, brothers, and observe those who walk according to the pattern you have in us. 18 For many walk—of whom I told you often, and now tell you even weeping—as enemies of the cross of the Messiah, 19 whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame—who set their mind on earthly things. 20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior—the Master Yeshua the Messiah— 21 who will transform the body of our humiliation into conformity with the body of his glory, according to the working by which he is able even to subject all things to himself.

Chapter 4
1 So then, my brothers, beloved and longed-for, my joy and crown, stand firm thus in the L-rd, beloved. 2 I exhort Euodia and I exhort Syntyche to be of the same mind in the L-rd. 3 Yes, I ask you also, true companion—help these women who labored together with me in the Good News, with Clement also and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the scroll of life. 4 Rejoice in the L-rd always; again I will say, rejoice! 5 Let your graciousness be known to all men. The Master is near. 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to G-d. 7 And the shalom of G-d, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Messiah Yeshua. 8 Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report—if there is any virtue and if there is any praise—meditate on these things. 9 The things which you both learned and received and heard and saw in me—practice these things; and the G-d of shalom will be with you. 10 But I rejoiced in the L-rd greatly that now at last you revived your care for me; you were indeed caring, but you had lacked opportunity. 11 Not that I speak from want; for I learned in whatever state I am to be content. 12 I know how to be humbled, and I know also how to abound. In each and every thing I have been initiated—both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to be in need. 13 I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. 14 Nevertheless, you did well by sharing together with me in my affliction. 15 And you yourselves also know, O Philippians, that in the beginning of the Good News—when I went out from Macedonia—not one assembly shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving except you alone. 16 For even in Thessalonica you sent once and again to my need. 17 Not that I seek the gift—but I seek the fruit that increases to your account. 18 But I have received everything in full, and have an abundance; I have been filled, having received from Epaphroditus the things sent from you—a fragrant aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well-pleasing to G-d. 19 And my G-d will supply all your need according to His riches in glory in Messiah Yeshua. 20 Now to our G-d and Father be the glory forever and ever. Amen. 21 Greet every set-apart one in Messiah Yeshua. The brothers who are with me greet you. 22 All the set-apart ones greet you, especially those of Caesar’s household. 23 The grace of the Master Yeshua the Messiah be with your spirit.
