“Behold, days are coming, says the L-rd, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Yisra᾽el, and with the house of Yehuda… but this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Yisra᾽el after those days, says the L-rd; I will put my Torah in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their G-d, and they shall be my people…”

-Jeremiah 31:31, 33

“Rabbi Elazar says: Be diligent in learning Torah, and know what to respond to one who denigrates the Torah. Know before Whom you labor–the Master of your work is trustworthy to pay you the wage for your activity.”

-Pirkei Avos 2:14

“While writing this commentary of the New Testament, I had no other goal, as I have said in the first volume, but to reconcile these two enemy sisters: The Church and the Synagogue… to show everyone that the New Testament only comes to show that the root of existence is in the unity of Gd (ahdut ha-Bore) … and also to strengthen the law of Moses (Torat Moshe)… I publish this commentary (to Matthew) in Hebrew for Jews, to introduce them to the New Testament who, until now, have not recognized its beauty (eynam makirim ’et yofya)… Notwithstanding the contrary misconception, the New Testament is in no manner contrary to the Tanakh (Hebrew Bible) or to the Talmud.

-Rabbi Eliyahu Tzvi Soloveitchik, Kol Kore

Waykeeper Principles #6 & #8

6. The Jewish writings called, “the New Testament,” are not equal, but are subordinate to the Torah given by G-d at Sinai (and therefore not a Halachic authority).

8. We do not yet have a kosher translation of the “New Testament,” but its general teachings align especially with Hasidic Judaism.

Based on the Weekly NT Schedule

Sunday (1):

Matthew 10:24 → Matthew 11:1 (20)

Jewish Commentary:

Matthew 10:25 – “He said before him: Master of the universe, with gladness and joy of my heart, I accept this upon myself under the condition that not one will be lost from Yisrael. And not only the living will be saved in my day, but even those that are hidden in the dust. And not only the dead alone will be saved in my day, but even those that have died in the days of first man until now! And not these alone but even the stillborn/aborted babies will be saved in my day! And not the stillborn alone, but even those that You only thought of and they have not yet been created! This I want, this I accept.

They said, the week that Moshiach Ben David comes, brings beams of iron and given to him [Moshiach Ben Yoseph] upon his neck until it has bent his stature and he screams and cries and his voice ascends to the supernal heights. He said before Hashem: Master of the Universe, how much will be my strength? How much will be my spirit? And how much will be my soul? And how much will be my limbs? Am I not only flesh and blood? Regarding this time, David cried and said: “My strength dries up like a clay chard. At that time, Hakodesh Baruch Hu said to him: Ephraim My Righteous Moshiach, you have already accepted this upon yourself from the six days of Creation. Now your pain is like my pain. From the day that the evil Nebuchadnezzar went up and destroyed My house and burned My sanctuary and exiled my children to the nations of the world, by your life and the life of your head, I have not entered My Throne. And if you do not believe, see the dew that is upon My head. As it was said: “My head is drenched with dew.” At that time, Moshiach Ben Yosef said before Him: Master of the Universe, now I am appeased, for it is sufficient that the servant be like his master.

-Yalkut Shimoni on Nach 499

Matthew 10:24 – “Mashiach ben Yoseph is the one who does battle, and Mashiach ben David comes to make peace in the world, not war. This is opposite of Yeshu HaNotzri, who said of himself, “I did not come into the world to make peace, but war” (Matthew 10:34, cp Luke 12:49-53). And also he himself was certainly the secret of Mashiach ben Yoseph…”

-Rabbi Moshe David Valle, Sefer HaLekutim Vol. 1, p. 242

The sword of the L-rd is full with blood” (Isaiah 34:6)… Be aware that this ‘sword’ refers to the Moshiach ben Yosef and his supernal roots, regarding which it states, “Who is this that comes from Edom” (ibid. 63:1).”

-Rabbi Moshe Chaim Luzzatto, Maamar HaGeulah, 1:61

The Gematria of, “Who is this that comes from Edom,” is exactly, ‘Yosef’ (156). The Gematria of, “the sword of the L-rd is full with blood,” is exactly, ‘Yeshua’ (386).

Matthew 10:40 – “The Gemara answers: He derives it from that which Rabbi Yehoshua ben Korḥa says, as Rabbi Yehoshua ben Korḥa says: From where is it derived that the legal status of a person’s agent is like that of himself? As it is stated with regard to the Paschal offering: “And the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall slaughter it in the afternoon” (Exodus 12:6). Is it so that the whole assembly slaughters the offering? But only one person from each group slaughters it. Rather, it can be derived from here that the legal status of a person’s agent is like that of himself.

-Kiddushin 41b:5
Matthew 11 – “A Time To Mourn”

““But to what shall I liken this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling to their companions, and saying:

‘We played the flute for you,
And you did not dance;
We mourned to you,
And you did not lament.’”

-Matthew 11:16-17

Monday (2):

Matthew 11:2 → Matthew 11:24 (23)

Jewish Commentary:

Matthew 11:10 – “However, His saying, Behold, I am sending My messenger (angel),” and the other verses after it — the commentators have explained them about the future to come… And Radak explained “the Lord” about the Messiah son of David, and “the Angel of the Covenant” about Elijah, who will come at the end of days, as he will mention.”

Abarbanel on Malachi 3:1:1
