Be An Anti-Nicolaitan

“I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false… But you have this in your favor: You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate… I know where you live—where Satan has his throne… There are some among you who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to entice the Israelites to sin so that they ate food sacrificed to idols and committed sexual immorality. Likewise, you also have those who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans.”

-Yeshua, Revelation 2:2, 6, 13, 14-15

The only thing that Yeshua explicitly says he hates in the whole New Testament is “the practices of the Nicolaitans.” The problem is that most people don’t really know who the Nicolaitans are or what they did and taught. There was debate among the Church fathers and throughout Church history about this, with no clear or practical answer.

I think that if it is the only thing that Yeshua explicitly says he hates, then it must be significant and important for us to know. I don’t think it is a coincidence that ‘Nicolaitans’ has the same Greek root as that of, ‘Nicaea’ (Also the Greek goddess, ‘Nike,’ νίκη). It is hard to overstate the significance of this “first” Church Council of Nicaea, which occurred exactly 1700 years ago.

‘Nicolaitans’ means, ‘followers of Nicholas,’ or literally, ‘victory over the people (laity).’ Some Protestants interpreted this as meaning, ‘victory of the clergy over the laity,’ the opposite of what Yeshua taught about not ‘lording over each other, like the rulers of the Gentiles do’ (Matthew 20:25). The Hebrew name, ‘Balaam’ (who Yeshua compares to the Nicolaitans) has an almost identical meaning to ‘Nicholas’ (‘swallowing the people’). Clearly, Nicaea represented such a ‘lording over,’ with the Roman Emperor and nearly 300 Gentile bishops officially deciding major points of doctrine on behalf of all Christianity until today (1700 years later).

“Coincidentally,” Nicholas (of Santa Claus fame) was one of the presiding bishops at Nicaea. Church legend says that at the Council of Nicaea, ‘Saint’ Nicholas publicly struck the presbyter Arius, the main dissenter of Nicaea, in the face (a very ‘Christ-like’ act of ‘turning the other cheek’). ‘Nicolaitans’ also means, ‘followers of Nicholas.’ There is clearly no more famous ‘Nicholas’ in Church history than this one, who now takes a central place, sometimes even over Christ, in the holiday of Christmas (and in a hidden way, also Easter).

What major points of doctrine did Nicholas and the Council of Nicaea decide on? Primarily, the doctrine of the Trinity and the dating of Easter. Before Nicaea, Christians kept Easter on Passover, when Yeshua was originally resurrected in Jerusalem. The “problem” for Christians was that they relied on Jews to know when Passover would occur every year (based on the Jewish calendar). This was absolutely unacceptable to the obviously antisemitic leaders of the Church.

“It was, in the first place, declared improper to follow the custom of the Jews in the celebration of this holy festival [Easter], because, their hands having been stained with crime, the minds of these wretched men are necessarily blinded. … Let us, then, have nothing in common with the Jews, who are our adversaries. … Let us … studiously avoiding all contact with that evil way. … For how can they entertain right views on any point who, after having compassed the death of the Lord, being out of their minds, are guided not by sound reason, but by an unrestrained passion, wherever their innate madness carries them. … lest your pure minds should appear to share in the customs of a people so utterly depraved. … Therefore, this irregularity must be corrected, in order that we may no more have any thing in common with those parricides and the murderers of our Lord. … it is most pious that all should unanimously agree in that course which accurate reasoning seems to demand, and which has no single point in common with the perjury of the Jews.”

-Constantine, Theoderet’s Ecclesiastical History

All the brethren in the East who have hitherto followed the Jewish practice will henceforth observe the custom of the Romans…”

-First Council of Nicaea – 325 AD

For the Council of Nicaea, they decided to “have nothing in common with the Jews, who are our adversaries,” and this included no longer having even the same G-d in common. Before the Council of Nicaea, there were many Christians who, even if they thought Jesus was quasi-divine or angelic, did not believe that Jesus was equal to the Father. This belief was compatible with Judaism (Rabbi Yeshua and Pharisee Paul’s own religion), and the earliest Jewish followers of Yeshua historically held this view (e.g. the Ebionites). They, like Arius, held firmly to Jesus’ words, such as,

“My Father is greater than I.

-John 14:28

“And the glory which You gave me I have given them, that they may be one just as we are one”

-John 17:22

“You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews.”

-Yeshua, John 4:22

The Council of Nicaea outright rejected Jesus words when it established their doctrine of the Trinity and Jesus’ equality with the Father (i.e. the Father is not “greater than I,” Yeshua doesn’t worship the Father, we are not one just as they are one, etc.) as the only “Orthodox” theology within Christianity. In so doing, they officially made it impossible for Jews and Christians to worship the same monotheistic G-d of Judaism together, let alone on the same Jewish holiday of Passover. From this point, anyone who didn’t worship the newly defined Trinity was deemed heretical and subject to persecution, including the Jews and Arius, who was excommunicated and exiled.

Not only did Nicaea represent an official divorce of Christianity from Judaism, but it clearly marked the marriage of Christianity with Rome. From the first Christian Emperor, Constantine, the Church now wielded the sword and power of Imperial Rome. Replacing “Jewish practice” with “the customs of the Romans,” the originally Jewish-only following of the Jewish Messiah strangely became the Roman Catholic Church.

How could G-d allow such a devastating and world-defining event to take place, especially in His Name and His Messiah’s? The truth is that this event was clearly predicted by His Prophets, especially Daniel, some 800 years before it actually happened. Daniel wrote about four parts of Nebuchadnezzar’s statue and Four Beasts which correspond to the four empires who conquered Israel – Babylon, Persia, Greece, and Rome.

The fourth and last beast, Rome, would be destroyed by the Messiah (what a far cry from Rome being the ‘capital’ of Christendom!). Did this happen yet? No. About the fourth beast, it is written,

“I considered the horns, and behold, there came up among them another little horn, before which three of the first horns were plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things… Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be a fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be different from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces. And the ten horns are ten kings that shall arise out of this kingdom: and another shall rise [the “little horn”] after them; and he shall be different from the former ones, and he shall subdue three kings. And he shall speak great words against the Most High, and shall wear out the holy ones of the Most High, and think to change times and law: and they shall be given into his hand for a season and seasons and half a season. But they shall sit in judgment, and his dominion shall be taken away, to be consumed and destroyed to the end. And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the holy ones of the Most High…”

-Daniel 7:23-27

“”and he will oppress the high holy ones” He will burden and oppress Israel. “and he will think to change the times and the law” He will plan in his heart to cause them to transgress all their appointed times and their laws [of the Torah].

-Rashi on Daniel 7:25:2-3

The “little horn” which came out of the fourth beast thought “to change times and Law.” This is what happened at the Council of Nicaea, when the Church officially stopped using the Jewish calendar (based on the Law of Moses). The only other time we read about the “little horn,” is in the next chapter of Daniel,

“And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which grew exceedingly great, towards the south, and towards the east, and towards the land of beauty. And it grew great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and trampled upon them. Yes, it magnified itself even to the prince of the host, and from him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down. And for an appointed time it was flagrantly set against the daily sacrifice, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered. Then I heard one holy one speaking, and another holy one said to that certain one who spoke, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the abomination of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot? And he said to me, For two thousand and three hundred evenings and mornings; then shall the sanctuary be restored.”

-Daniel 8:9-15

The “little horn” is clearly a general reference to the ruling power of Rome, who destroyed the Temple, “magnified itself even to the prince of the host,” and “cast down the truth to the ground.” This one caused “the abomination of desolation” until the “sanctuary be restored.” The “little horn” clearly can’t be one man, but represents a spiritual principality (like the ‘Prince of Persia’ and Greece in Daniel 10:20) which rules over the Fourth Beast of Rome until the Temple is rebuilt (“the sanctuary is restored”), nearly two millennia after it destroyed the Temple.

“And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a bold-faced (az panim) king, and one who understands riddles, shall arise. And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people. By his cunning, he will use deceit successfully, and shall magnify himself in his heart, and without difficulty he shall destroy many: he shall also stand up over the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand. And the vision of the evenings and the mornings which was told is true: but seal up the vision; for it refers to many days hence.”

-Daniel 8:23-26

This king uses power that is not his own, such as signs and “wonders.” He persecutes the holy people and “uses deceit.” “He magnifies himself” and thinks he can “stand over the Prince of princes,” but is “broken without hand” a long time (“many days”) after Daniel received this vision. This again proves that he is a spiritual figure, and not one man.

“And after sixty two weeks shall a Messiah be cut off, and none will be left to him: and the people of a prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and his end shall be with a flood, and to the end of the war desolations are decreed. And he shall make a strong covenant with many for one week: and during half of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the offering to cease; and upon the wing of abominations shall come one who makes desolate, until the decreed destruction is poured out on the desolator.”

-Daniel 9:26-27

After the Messiah was killed and the Temple was destroyed, the “abomination of desolation” (the Dome of the Rock, which was originally built as a temple to Jupiter) put in its place will remain until the desolator himself is destroyed.

“And in his place shall stand up a vile one, to whom the honour of the kingdom has not been given: but he shall come in without difficulty, and obtain the kingdom by flatteries. And the force of the flood shall be swept away before him, and shall be broken; even the prince of the covenant… And arms shall stand up on his part, and they shall profane sanctuary and fortress, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall set up the abomination that makes desolate. And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he seduce by flatteries: but the people who know their G-d shall be strong, and prevail. And they who understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, some days. Now when they shall fall, they shall receive a little help: but many shall join themselves to them with flatteries. And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to refine, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for the time appointed. And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak astonishing things against the G-d of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that which is determined shall be done. Nor shall he regard the gods of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all.”

-Daniel 11:21-22, 31-37

““And he shall do” – This is Constantine, who was a great king…”

-Ibn Ezra on Daniel 11:36:1

““And he shall do according to his will” – this is the known king, and he is the king Constantine from Rome…”

-Rabbi Joseph ibn Yahya on Daniel 11:36:1

The same “vile one” who will break “the prince of the covenant” (the Messiah), is the one who sets up the “abomination of desolation,” and “magnifies himself above every god,” he does not “regard the gods of his fathers, nor the desire of women.” Amazingly, famous Jewish commentators, such as Ibn Ezra and Ibn Yahya, say that this passage is referring specifically to the Emperor Constantine. Constantine seemingly abandoned the Roman “gods of his fathers,” but where did he disregard “the desire of women?”

Canon 3: It is not lawful for a bishop, presbyter, or deacon to have a wife. If anyone is discovered to have been living in this way, let him be deposed.”

-First Council of Nicaea – 325 AD

“Now the Spirit explicitly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, forbidding to marry…”

-1 Timothy 4:1-3

The Fourth Beast is described as being made of “iron.” Where does the Spirit “explicitly” say that this deception will include “forbidding to marry” (celibacy)? Yeshua and all of the New Testament writers warned about the fulfillment of these prophecies specifically in Daniel. We already proved that the “little horn” can not be one man, but is rather a spiritual figure. Who is this?

“Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away (apostasy) comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as G-d in the temple of G-d, showing himself that he is G-d. Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of his mouth and destroy with the brightness of his coming. The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason G-d will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”

-2 Thessalonians 2:3-12

Clearly, the “little horn” is the “lawless one” who “changes time and Law.” His is “the working of Satan,” and this is the true spiritual principality behind the Fourth Beast of Rome which crucified the Messiah (under Pilate), destroyed the Temple (under Titus), set up the “abomination of desolation” (under Hadrian), established a new Roman religion with a new god and law (under Constantine), and which persecuted G-d’s Eternal Covenant People Israel (through Crusades, inquisitions, pogroms, etc.). The Protestant Reformers all thought that the Pope was the Antichrist, but really these Roman rulers and popes all possessed the spirit of him who already was “the Antichrist” in the time of John. Hitler’s ‘Third Reich’ was named after the First Reich, the Holy Roman Empire, and the Second Reich under Kaiser (‘Caeser’) Wilhelm II.

“Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour... And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.”

-1 John 2:18, 4:3

“For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted—you may well put up with it!”

-2 Corinthians 11:4

“For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Messiah. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.”

-2 Corinthians 11:13-14

Why is he called, “the Antichrist?” Because he came in the place of Christ and still pretends to be Christ. He looks “like a lamb [Christ] and speaks like a dragon [Satan]” (Revelation 13:11). The Messiah is called a “horn” (Psalm 132:17), and the Antichrist pretends to be the Messiah, as the “little horn.” What does he do while he pretends to be Christ?

As we see clearly with the Council of Nicaea, this Roman “Jesus” (the true Antichrist) “changed the times [holidays] and Law,” forbade marriage to women for clergy, “cast down the truth to the ground,” “did wickedly against the covenant [eternally with the Jewish people],” “devoured the whole earth [with the largest world religion in history],” and “exalted himself, and magnified himself above every god,” making himself into god (the Trinity). This is why “Satan has his throne” amongst “those who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans.” He will only be exposed for who he is (as the devil), and destroyed at “the time of the end,” and the revelation of the true Jewish Messiah, Yeshua.

When the printing press was invented, it led to an explosion of information and education, sparking the revolution in Christianity of the Protest Reformation, which explicitly held that the Pope in Rome was the Antichrist. Now, with the invention of the internet, we can at long last expose the true Antichrist behind Rome and initiate not a new reformation of corrupt European (Greco-Roman) Christiainity, but the “restoration of all things” – to a truly Jewish Messiah!

May it be immediately in our days! Amen.

“How art thou fallen from heaven, O bright star, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, that didst rule over the nations! For thou hast said in thy heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of G-d: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the farthest north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to She᾽ol, to the depths of the pit. They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms; that made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed its cities; that opened not the house of his prisoners? All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house. But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abhorred branch (‘Netzer’)…”

-Isaiah 14:12-19

“Matt 24:14-16. The Greek text reads: “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, as a testimony to all nations; and then the end will come. So when you see the desolating sacrilege spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains” (RSV). The saying suggests that the gospel will be preached to the whole world, including the Gentiles, before the desolating sacrilege is seen standing in the holy place. The Hebrew text reads:

“And this gospel ….. will be preached in all the earth for a witness concerning me to (against?) all the nations and then the end will come. This is the Anti-Christ and this is the abomination which desolates which was spoken of by Daniel as standing in the holy place. Let the one who reads understand. Then those who are in Judea let them flee to the mountains.”

The Hebrew text is difficult. It appears to mean that preaching the gospel to the Gentiles before the end-time is the Anti-Christ and the abomination which desolates…”

-Dr. George Howard, The Hebrew Gospel of Matthew

“In regards to the root of the faith of the Edomites [i.e. Roman-Christians], know that the intention of the Holy One, blessed be He, was to make a great clarification from several mixed multitudes who intermingled with the true seed during the days of Mordecai and Esther, as it says, “And many of the people of the land became Jews; for the fear of Mordecai fell upon them.” And behold, they converted under duress, not willingly, and therefore there is no good found in them. And the Almighty wanted to distance them from the chosen people, and He used the bold-faced (ha-az panim) Mamzer… In the matter of the Hanged Nazarene that the Edomites have embraced and taken upon themselves as their god, we have already written elsewhere that the reason is due to their pride, for the Almighty humbled them with a punishment like no other, for there is no impurity as severe as the impurity of a corpse, as is known. Furthermore, these fools who carry their idolatrous tree on their shoulders and bear it do not realize that it is really the ‘Tree of Death,’ “for he that is hanged is accursed of G-d,” and ‘hanged’ is the Gematria of, ‘death.’ All this stems from their great foolishness, for the evil of Samae-l and his female counterpart, who clothed themselves in the Nazarene Mamzer and his [allegedly] harlot mother, dominates them and drives them. But when the Almighty desires to rectify the world, suddenly He will expel servant and maid, and He will instill in the hearts of the deceived a spark from the mistress— the secret of the Shechinah, which has the Gematria of, “shin peh heh” (shafah), and then they will abandon their idols of silver and their idols of gold and acknowledge the truth, as it is written: “For then I will turn to the peoples a pure language (shafah),” and so forth.”
