“But he who looks into the perfect Law (Torah) of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.”
-James 1:25
For the most part, Christianity teaches that G-D’s Law/Torah has been done away with because it is “bondage,” “slavery,” “burdensome,” “obsolete,” or whatever other derogatory language that’s used. Nothing could be further from the truth, and we only have to read King David, as inspired by the Holy Spirit in Psalm 119, to know it.
1 Blessed are the undefiled in the way,
Who walk in the Law (Torah) of the L-RD!18 Open my eyes, that I may see
Wondrous things from YOUR Law (Torah).29 Remove from me the way of lying,
And grant me YOUR Law (Torah) graciously.34 Give me understanding, and I shall keep YOUR Law (Torah);
Indeed, I shall observe it with my whole heart.44 So shall I keep YOUR Law (Torah) continually,
Forever and ever.
45 And I will walk at liberty,
For I seek YOUR precepts.51 The proud have me in great derision,
Yet I do not turn aside from YOUR Law (Torah).53 Indignation has taken hold of me
Because of the wicked, who forsake YOUR Law (Torah).55 I remember YOUR name in the night, O L-RD,
And I keep YOUR Law (Torah).61 The cords of the wicked have bound me,
But I have not forgotten YOUR Law (Torah).70 Their heart is as fat as grease,
But I delight in YOUR Law (Torah).72 The Law (Torah) of YOUR mouth is better to me
Than thousands of coins of gold and silver.77 Let YOUR tender mercies come to me, that I may live;
For YOUR Law (Torah) is my delight.85 The proud have dug pits for me,
Which is not according to YOUR Law (Torah).92 Unless YOUR Law (Torah) had been my delight,
I would then have perished in my affliction.97 Oh, how I love YOUR Law (Torah)!
It is my meditation all the day.109 My life is continually in my hand,
Yet I do not forget YOUR Law (Torah).113 I hate the double-minded,
But I love YOUR Law (Torah).126 It is time for YOU to act, O L-RD,
For they have regarded YOUR Law (Torah) as void.
136 Rivers of water run down from my eyes,
Because men do not keep YOUR Law (Torah).142 YOUR righteousness is an everlasting righteousness,
And YOUR Law (Torah) is truth.150 They draw near who follow after wickedness;
They are far from YOUR Law (Torah).153 Consider my affliction and deliver me,
For I do not forget YOUR Law (Torah).163 I hate and abhor lying,
But I love YOUR Law (Torah).165 Great peace have those who love YOUR Law (Torah),
And nothing causes them to stumble.174 I long for YOUR salvation, O L-RD,
And YOUR Law (Torah) is my delight.
Christianity contradicts not only King David, but the son of King David…
“Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the Law till all is fulfilled. Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”
-Matthew 5:17-19
May King David’s words, and G-D’s words, be our own.
Amein.
